Jack Dorsey: Square Has Plans To Create A Bitcoin Hardware Wallet
Square, the merchant services provider founded by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, has plans to create a Bitcoin hardware wallet. The company owns a mobile payments platform that allows merchants to accept card payments on iOS and Android devices.
Square’s intention to create a Bitcoin hardware wallet was revealed by Dorsey during a discussion about the future of cryptocurrencies in an interview with Joe Rogan, who hosts the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
“We do have a plan for [a Bitcoin hardware wallet], we’re just waiting for the right time to announce it,” Dorsey said. “We want to do it right, and we don’t want to do anything until it’s ready.”
It is unclear what kind of features Square’s hardware wallet will include and whether or not it will support other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, Ripple or Litecoin in addition to Bitcoin.
